We met through Match. com. We began talking on a Wednesday and Dustin saying he is old-fashioned, asked to meet me in person on the following Saturday. Dustin chose where we met, which was along the water of the Portage Canal, right by the lift bridge. He knew I liked simple, water, and outdoors. We ended up spending 8 hours together that day and loved it. I now refer to it as our "First Date Day." After meeting Dustin, I just wanted to keep spending more time with him. Turns out I get to spend more time with him for the rest of my life! <3 -Dawn

I knew I had to propose to Dawn back in the UP, where we met, and where I knew was special to us. She planned a visit with a couple of her friends up north, and I knew that was the perfect opportunity for me. Her friends took us hiking up a mountain (which was beyond exhausting) and then down into a gorge along a river, that ended with a waterfall. She and I were standing in front of the waterfall, with her friend taking our picture, when I got down on one knee to ask her. She looked down at me with shock and happiness. I said, "Will you marry me?" She began with, "What are you doing?! Are you serious?!" Me: "No, I'm kidding... Of course I am serious!" Her: "Aww, YES, of course I will!" -Dustin

6.8.18 Dawn first saw Dustin on Match, could not believe he lived in the Houghton area, and messaged him excitedly. His bio was sweet and funny and he had the nicest blue eyes. 8.15.18 Dustin FINALLY responded to Dawn's message to him from 2 months ago. Dawn was super excited and told her closest friends, "OMG, Dustin responded to me!!" They began talking. Dustin soon mentioned his two cats, and sent the most adorable picture to Dawn of his ginger kitty, Pippin, all tucked into his bed. Dawn then knew they had to meet, even if to only meet Pippin. Dawn and Dustin texted each other throughout the day and sent gifs to eachother. Dustin asked to meet Dawn that coming weekend. 8.18.18 Dawn and Dustin met down by the water near the bridge in Houghton. Dustin was adorable, sitting at a picnic table with a book, early of course. Dawn arrived about 2 minutes before the set meeting time of 2:00 pm. They sat at the picnic table together and began talking. From there they walked across the bridge, got smoothies, went out to eat, watched a band at the DT, went to Dawn's family's campsite for the campfire, and then Dawn brought Dustin back to his car. They sang "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran on the way back to his car. They ended the night agreeing they wanted to see eachother again soon. 8.25.18 Dawn flew back to Hancock on this day after being in Knoxville, TN for a few days. She and Dustin had been texting the whole time she was gone. He offered to pick her up from the airport. She was so happy to see him there waiting for her. Dustin met Dawn's cat Nemo that day. Nemo was actually nice to him. This warmed Dawn's heart. They spent the summer day together and went to the beach in Dollar Bay that night. The night felt magical and ended with Dawn and Dustin officially a couple. <3
