Nuevo Vallarta is on the western coast of Mexico, just north of Puerto Vallarta, which is a tourist hot spot and home to a cruise line port. The nearest places to scuba dive near the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta are in Puerto Vallarta. Vallarta Under the Sea (vallartaundersea.com.mx) is seven miles from the Grand Mayan and has daily dive trips leaving from Marina Vallarta; the tours include all necessary equipment and lunch. Chico's Dive Shop (chicos-diveshop.com) takes divers out on a half-day tour that includes stops at the Puerto Vallarta Underwater Reserve.
