Dustin and Chandra exchanged their first words in 2013 via a private message on the popular site, Christian Mingle. The two were attempting to allow God to guide them to their "perfect match". Although both, Dustin and Chandra, have different stories of how they came to be on Christian Mingle they were both seeking a kindhearted relationship that could possibly lead to marriage. Chandra made the first move by clicking on his profile page, clicking to comment on one of his pictures, followed by clicking the "send" button. Chandra was sure Dustin would not respond... but to her surprise, Dustin DID respond! The two continued chatting which soon turned into texting followed by many phone calls. It was approximately 2 months before the two met in person at an Italian restaurant in Moreno Valley, California secondary to their busy schedules (Dustin: working swing shift ; Chandra: full-time student). Their first date went better than both had expected and was apparently the time Dustin somehow forgot how to open a door when performing a chivalrous action for Chandra as she arrived. :-) The two instantly hit it off and the rest is history!

Despite Dustin knowing he wanted to marry Chandra within a year or so of dating, he kindly waited per her request. As Chandra completed school as a Physical Therapist Assistant and gained employment, surely this was the time for him to propose? Nope! Dustin was asked once again to wait until Chandra had completed school for Physical Therapy. However, not being able to wait any longer...Dustin scheduled for the two to go to the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California (knowing Chandra had never been there before). As the two stepped on board, they made there way down the port side of the ship to the stern (back of the ship). They came to an alter and began talk of getting married on the ship at that vary alter. Chandra slowly responded, "I don't know", as she looked around to survey the scenery and imagine possibilities of their wedding on the ship. Dustin quickly got down on one knee and stated to Chandra's back, "Well...What about getting engaged here?" Chandra quickly turned to face Dustin and was happily taken aback to see him on one knee. Chandra instantly responded, "YES!!!" And here we are today!
