We did attend the same high school but due to Dustin being 4 years older we didn't really cross paths. We officially met when we worked together at Hachette Book Group. Cathy was working there as a summer job. We would hang out during our breaks and lunch and got to know each other. At this time Cathy was set on going to college in Texas in 2006 so a friendship was all that happened at this time. Dustin and Cathy remained friends ever since.

We had been dating for about 4 or 5 years and had discussed getting married at some point but with the pandemic and purchasing a house together knew it would be a little while before that could happen. We closed on our house in December 2020 and Dustin proposed when we walked into our new home together. Our realtor was even in on it and had a sign made so Cathy would turn around when she walked into the home. This was a complete shock and unexpected. She of course said yes!
