We met through social media via mutual friends that we had. Mario took the initiative to reach out to Michaela by messaging her. Little did we know that a few weeks later our journey would begin.

After a few weeks of talking, Mario decided to meet Michaela in Ohio. He arrived on a Wednesday evening and went to Tree of Life Church for an evening bible study with Michaela. Mario met all of Michaela’s friends and a few members of her family. The next evening they went out for dinner and he asked Michaela to be his girlfriend.

After asking me to be his girlfriend, Mario had to drive back to Michigan. We knew that a long distance relationship would be hard, but we perservered and with support from The Lord, our families, and friends, our relationship stayed strong! Mario did his best to come down to Ohio every few weeks or so. Throughout the end of 2020 and all of 2021, we spent time together by taking trips and experiencing a relationship that was not long distance! Some of our favorite trips were Clearwater Beach, Arizona, Seattle, San Diego, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver, and Grand Haven.

In September of 2021, with fervent prayer, Mario made the decision to move to Ohio. All of the pieces fell into place where he transferred his airport job to CVG, continued his pilot training, and to be closer to Michaela.

In October 2021, Mario asked Michaela’s father for his permission to marry Michaela. They talked over future plans and the hopes and dreams of both Mario and Michaela. In December of 2021, Mario surprised Michaela with a trip to Disney World. On Sunday, December 19th, Mario got down on one knee and proposed to Michaela in front of The Cinderella Castle! It was such a romantic experience that Michaela will never forget!
