Sophie and Nick met playing League of Legends online with mutual friends. For the uninitiated, League of Legends is a terrible game we enjoy(?), which has the unfortunate tendency to bring out the worst in anyone who plays it. Despite the circumstances, we became friends, bonding over our shared interests and insomnia. We first met in person at DragonCon 2017 in Atlanta and had a grand old time.

In 2018, we played Toontown and flirted aggressively. Nick spent hours playing the fishing minigame to buy Sophie a crown for her character to wear. Sophie had to ask a friend if this meant he liked her (it did). Nick asked Sophie out in March, and they scheduled a date for the following weekend. Nick flew to Atlanta from Boston, and we spent the weekend hanging out in Cumming, GA. We went to Cherry Street Brewing, ate donuts from Dutch Monkey, Sophie lambasted stupid merchandise in boutiques, and we held hands and stuff. We dated long distance for 1 year and 2 months, taking turns each month with Nick flying to Atlanta and Sophie flying to Boston.

Nick moved down to Atlanta in May 2019, uprooting everything so we could be together. We had lots of fun exploring the city together. After enduring long-distance dating, a cross-country move, and everything that 2020 threw at us, we knew that we could overcome anything and that our bond was unbreakable.

We got engaged after mediocre Italian food and a local production of Into the Woods. Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center is next to Sandy Springs City Hall. We got our picture taken by strangers in front of City Hall after he popped the question, which confused many people. We did not elope; please do come to the wedding.
