How We Met

As a Junior at UMD Corbin was playing on the Mens Club Volleyball team. He had became close with one of his teammates, Riley Primus, who happened to be one of Sarah's roommates in her college house. Corbin had started to come over to their house more often for movie nights with Riley, Sarah and their roommates. Secret hand holding had started to occur during the movies when Corbin and Sarah were able to arrange a way to sit next to each other. Whenever Corbin's college house had a party Riley and Sarah would attend. We eventually had started hanging out alone and realized we couldn't be apart and haven't since. That winter break we had boldly visited each other's hometowns that were 4 hours apart to meet each other's families and learn more about where we grew up. We had then attended the Minneapolis Miracle game and started dating. Next came years of fun including cabin weekends, lake days, cribbage and pool games, traveling, and many visits to our hometowns.

The Proposal

During the summer of 2021 Corbin knew he wanted to propose sometime that year. He planned a trip to Shane Co. one day to start looking at rings but not thinking he would buy one right away. Well, he did. He walked out of the store that day having purchased the customized ring and started to formulate a plan! We had a trip planned to New York later that fall to visit Sarah's life time best friend Rachel. We planned to go at the same time as Corbin's two brothers, Tanner and Garret, and their wives, Emma and Vanessa as well. Vanessa's twin sister Trisha and her fiancé Braydon also came with for the trip. He decided propose on the final night of the week long trip 1200 feet above the ground at the tallest outdoor sky deck in the US overlooking the New York skyline known as The Edge. Trisha is an amazing photographer so he asked her to bring her camera and capture the moment which she did INCREDIBLY. After the proposal on top of New York we all went to a fun fancy Italian restaurant for dinner followed by another surprise, a hotel for the night! Corbin found a lively hotel with multiple bars and a huge rooftop patio to finish the best day and trip. We then flew home the next morning as an engaged couple! However, since not everyone could be there he planned a surprise party back home at the house Sarah grew up in. The party consisted of both families and close friends and was such a fun way to keep celebrating the exciting engagement. He had one more surprise and that was the Vikings game with some friends Sunday after those two crazy days! Once arriving home Sunday night we had found our house decorated by our friends and a cute basket of gifts to celebrate us!
