How we met

January 2017

At church, my pastor had encouraged us to share our testimonies. It was something I had been afraid of doing for a while but I also knew the Lord was leading me to do that. I wasn't sure why. I finally got the courage to post it on my blog and share it with the world. It was scary being so vulnerable. But, I knew God would use it. I just didn't know He would use it for me... I posted it on my instagram. About a week later, I saw I had a message on my instagram from some boy from New Brockton. He was encouraging me and telling me to keep sharing my testimony and that the Lord will work in my life. My first thought was, "He's cute, loves Jesus (hopefully since he is saying that but, idk he DID slide into the DM's), but do I call him John or Nathan or what?" LOL I messaged him back and when he FINALLY asked for my number, he also asked me on a date. He came over that Friday night. This was the first time we would meet. I remember being SO nervous. This was like a blind date without being a blind date. But BOY was I impressed. When I was finally ready to go, I walked into the living room with him having a conversation with my dad about guns (I know, I was thinking the same thing... NOOO), holding flowers for me. Wow. What a man. We sat in the living room with my family and talked until it was time for dinner and as we were leaving, my mom hugged me and whispered "I really like this one" and I walked out of that door knowing this was the one. It's funny how God sometimes uses situations in a completely different way than you ever expect.

The Proposal

3.9.2019

We had always known we would get married, but the big question "when" was always unanswered. I would ask John Nathan and he would just say he didn't know. So I would always joke.. "okay, 10 years from now. I get it." Chad, Rachel (my awesome bosses and some of my best friends), and I had been talking about them building a wedding venue. One day, Chad asked if I wanted to go with him and Rachel to look at some venues and some land to get an idea of what to do and where to do it. So that Saturday, I met them at work and just tagged along. I do not know my way around that area at all, so when we pulled up to the absolute cutest white chapel (I am OBSESSED with little white chapels), I got out and started walking towards it... after I put wrinkle spray all over me... yes, I am that girl. Chad was going to park because we were meeting a guy there that we knew. All of a sudden, Rachel is gone and I see John Nathan walking around the corner with flowers.. Just like our first date. I immediately started crying as he got down on one knee. This was it. God had been preparing our lives for this moment and for each other. As we were taking pictures (Thanks to Justin Roberts for showing up in camo to be hidden) my sister comes running at me screaming. Then behind her came both of our families. John Nathan and I are both family people, so this moment meant so much to me. This day was a huge surprise. The best surprise. I am so thankful to have a man who took the time to plan all of this out for us to have a day that will be unforgettable.
