Duke and Zoe met when they were around 4-5 years old at Crown Point's annual Memorial Day Parade. His dad and her uncle are childhood best friends, and their families grew up pretty close. Unbeknownst to them at the time, they both had crushes on one another when they were in elementary school. However, since they were raised 2 hours apart from one another, they lost touch as they got older. It wasn't until a few months after running into each other at a wedding in 2017 that they started dating. After about a year of dating, Duke was relocated from Saratoga, NY to Groton, CT, and they broke up. Right before the pandemic, in February of 2020, they realized they still had feelings for one another, and wanted to give it one last try. They've been together ever since.
On Valentine's Day 2022 (Zoe's favorite holiday), Duke took her to on a walk to their favorite beach. On their way back to the car, Zoe was taking pictures of the sunset when she turned around and he was down on one knee. She shouted "YES," and they were engaged.
