Let The Adventure Begin!

Alex and I met 9 years ago at Harvest Community Church. Despite having all the same friends, attending the same church, and having traveled to Haiti together, we barely spoke a word to one another. It wasn’t until the summer of 2020 that our friendship began. We were both invited to a campout. I think it’s fair to say we were both expecting it to be fairly awkward due to the lack of prior communication. Boy was I wrong! We hit it off instantly and spent the whole day laughing and learning about each other. From then on we would spend all our time talking, going on local adventures, playing Yahtzee, and stargazing. A couple months had passed and at this point I was head over heels for him and the feeling was mutual. On August 25, 2020 I asked Alex to go on a hike with me, Kings Mountain/Elks Mountain Trail. Not knowing the difficulty, we began what we would later find out was the hardest hike we had ever done. 7 hours and 11.6 miles later we had summited two mountains and reached an elevation gain of 3,838 ft. To my surprise, that evening Alex still asked if I would be his girlfriend. The year and half that followed brought many joys and challenges. Discovering our love languages, adjusting to each other's flaws, learning one another’s goofy quirks, and much more. It wasn’t long before I realize that I was dating the most incredible man and that I wanted to spend my forever with him. We grew close very quickly but we wouldn’t be where we are now without having spent the time we did experiencing life through each others eyes. On December 11, 2021, Alex proposed after a Christmas concert in front of a beautiful Christmas tree display. The challenge of the guy surprising the girl was certainly accomplished, I didn’t have a single inkling! There’s something special about being able to say I’ve found the one whom my soul loves. Alex and I are excited to finalize our commitment to one another on July 9, 2022. We hope to see you there as we become husband and wife.
