Doylestown and its surrounding region offer winding, tree-lined roads, charming towns, and stunning countryside views—many of which Ryan grew up driving on. Take the long way and explore these scenic routes: 1. River Road (PA-32): A picturesque drive along the Delaware River with stops in New Hope and Lumberville. Highlights: Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve and roadside cafes. 2. Aquetong Road: A quiet, tree-lined route perfect for smooth, spirited driving. 3. Durham Road (PA-413): A peaceful drive through Bucks County farmland and historic homes. 4. Carversville Road: A secluded, winding road with covered bridges and sharp turns. 5. Street Road (PA-611 to PA-232): Thrilling elevation changes, sweeping turns, and scenic views. 6. Lower Mountain Road: A favorite for driving enthusiasts with rolling hills and tight curves. Take the long way—you never know what hidden gems you’ll find!
A six-story concrete castle in historic Doylestown. This extraordinary museum showcases over 50,000 pre-industrial tools and artifacts, telling the story of early American life. While in town, visit its sister site Fonthill Castle, the former home of archaeologist Henry Mercer.
A short drive from Doylestown, this quaint shopping village offers unique shops, seasonal festivals, and delicious dining options.
Just a short drive from Doylestown, New Hope is a charming riverside town with unique shops, art galleries, and hgreat dining. Explore the scenic Delaware River, visit the historic Bucks County Playhouse, or enjoy a relaxing ride on the New Hope Railroad. Looking for a place to eat? One of Ryan and Kara’s favorite places to eat in New Hope is Stella on the river front. Great cocktails, delicious food and views of the Delaware River.
Bowman’s Hill Tower is a must-see near New Hope, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. A quick drive from town, it’s perfect for history buffs or anyone looking to take in stunning scenery from above.
Just minutes from Doylestown, Peace Valley Park surrounds the beautiful Lake Galena with 14 miles of trails. Enjoy a peaceful lakeside walk, rent a kayak, spot local wildlife, or pack a picnic. It's the perfect natural escape for a relaxing afternoon.
For out-of-towners looking to explore further, Philadelphia is only about 45m - 1h away and offers world-class museums, historic landmarks, and plenty of cheesesteaks (Ryan recommendation: ‘Steve’s Prince of Steaks’).
Wissahickon Valley Park is a beautiful forested area along the Wissahickon Creek, and has a great paved/semi-paved path for walking, running, day hikes, etc. There are also several offshoot dirt trails that are great for a short hike. Believe it or not, this park is entirely within the City of Philadelphia! There are multiple access points, and we recommend Valley Green (more parking) or the Bells Mill Rd lot (less parking) for path access, and the White Trail Entrance (street parking, near 6588 Park Line Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19119) if you want to start on a trail right away.
