In 1946, Pioneertown was founded by a group of Hollywood investors with dreams of creating a living movie set. The winding roads leading up to the high desert oasis are Mars-esque. The highlight is the restaurant Pappy and Harriet's which has incredible food and definitely worth the drive! The drive takes you through Yucca Valley, which has many cool vintage shops to stop at!
Truly one of our favorite days of hiking - if you have an extra day, we highly recommend driving through this desert wonderland and pulling off for lots of quick hikes to frolic amongst the Joshua Trees and climb on the rocks like an adult playground. *Tickets must be purchased ahead of time. If you plan on going, let us know and I will send you a bunch more recommendations!
Palm Springs' first and oldest neighborhood, Old Las Palmas, dates from the mid-1920s and is a treasure trove of mid-century modern gems, that have been home to the likes of Marilynn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant. We think it is best enjoyed by bike and plan on taking a group Saturday morning!
