The couple met through a friend that was on the gymnastics team with Alyssa (Ducky) at UW-Oshkosh. The two bonded over their mutual awkwardness, their love of food, nature, exercising and of course, dogs. Growing close over the next couple years the two decided to (finally) give this relationship thing a try and here we are many years, miles and memories later.
March of 2018 the two had decided they wanted to run a Spartan Race together and found one that was in Houston which was where their best friend Courty lived. Little did she know that this trip would be one that changed her life. The day before the two were leaving Houston,Courty suggested they go "nature doodling" at the arboretum. The three friends arrived and as they were walking in a wedding was going on, she made a joke saying,”hey Josh we could get married here!" to which Josh and Courty looked at each other and then laughed nervously. The three took pictures together by the pond and of course she had to say said hi to a dog nearby. Josh then suggested they walk around the pond;to which she argued(of course) but they all started walking anyways. She spotted something on a bench nearby and asked Courty and Josh if that stuff was there before to which they both looked confused and said they didn’t don’t know. She went to investigate, not knowing that Courty was getting into position to photograph. She walked over to the bench, with Josh following behind her. She bent down to pick up what she now realized were stuffed animals. One was a Duck in a wedding dress and the other was Winnie the Pooh in a Tuxedo. As she picked up the Winnie the Pooh, the song "I don't dance" by Lee Brice started playing(their song). She realized that the combination of the song with the Bride Duck& Groom Winnie the pooh meant and turned around to find a grinning Josh down on one knee holding the most beautiful ring. After much; laughing, crying, OMGing and gentle prompting; Josh was able to form the words "Will you Marry me?". She of course said Yes and made him pinky promise it would be fun. After hugs and kisses, She realized she didn't know if Josh had asked her parents’ permission, upon asking Josh he just laughed and said "of course". The couple then went on to share the exciting news with loved ones which she would find out that almost everyone in their families were in on it!
