How We Met

Not Your Average Party - 2014

Prior to the start of Spring 2014 classes at Misericordia, Sarah and friends decided to host one last hoorah. While enjoying beverages and bumping tunes, Amanda noticed a very charming TJ enter the apartment. He being three years older and obviously a great catch, she was hesitant to pursue such a cool dude. Warm with confidence (and maybe vodka), Amanda took the leap and kissed TJ's cheek while he was chatting with a friend! He turned and smiled, instantly melting her young heart, and sparking the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Our Big Move

Colorado Bound - 2017

Every year spent together is exciting for Amanda and TJ, but 2017 was particularly adventurous. TJ had made the decision to return to Misericordia to complete a BS in nursing, and Amanda was graduating from the University of Scranton and going on to pursue her MBA. At least that was the plan... TJ tore his ACL in April, forcing him to drop from the nursing program, and Amanda decided to pause her MBA until she gained more experience in her field. With life plans placed on hold and job opportunity meek in Scranton, the young couple decided there was no better time to begin a new journey in a new state...Colorado! They sold their cars, packed up their childhood homes, said their tearful goodbyes, and started their journey to the Mile High City with Jax the Snaus in their new Rav4. The somewhat spontaneous decision to move resulted in both Amanda and TJ moving without jobs. Luckily, they accepted positions within 2 weeks of moving - Amanda with Tiffany & Co. and TJ with CVS. However these careers would not last long. TJ soon went on to pursue his dream of being medically certified and completed phlebotomy school in 2018. He then secured a Lead Supervisor position with LabCorp and has been recognized as one of their best phlebotomists and service representatives. Amanda found a calling outside of luxury retail and went on to secure a position with Anheuser-Busch as an Operations Supervisor for their Denver warehouse. During their time in CO, Amanda and TJ have gone through two apartments, four jobs, and a helluva lot of "adulting". They have gained new life-long friends and unbelievable insight into what it means to truly live. These experiences have caused Amanda and TJ's love to grow stronger and their connection to become unbreakable as they faced many triumphs and turmoils. When the couple decided to plan a surprise trip home to visit their family in January 2019, little did Amanda know that TJ was planning the surprise of her life.

The Proposal

Best. Surprise. Ever. - 01/25/2019

Moving to CO causes homesickness when you have great family and friends like Amanda & TJ. This spurred them to book a flight home in January 2019, both agreeing that they wouldn't disclose the visit and surprise their loved ones. TJ let Amanda believe that plan, but he had something else in mind! January comes and Amanda and TJ are bursting with excitement for their visit home, although for different reasons! By now Tyler F. had also decided to fly home to "surprise" the families and Amanda and TJ were eager to meet him in PA. TJ had secretly been working with friends and family for months to create the most stunning and perfect engagement ring and surprise proposal, and it was all about to come together! Fabulous friends picked Amanda & TJ up from Avoca and were told that they would assist them in surprising their families. Amanda had been working with Tyler C. to ensure the families were in position for the surprise, but little did she know that TJ was doing his own puppeteering to guarantee the best proposal. Tyler instructed Amanda that Bryan had forgotten his wallet at home (which seemed typical) and told her to surprise everyone there. Not finding this suspicious, Amanda instructed her friends to bring them to her parent's home in Clarks Summit. The next moment would prove to be one of the best of her life. Having parked on the road to avoid ruining the "surprise," Amanda rushed up the driveway in excitement with TJ and friends in tow. She was lovingly greeted by Gabe and completely distracted from the Einstein light bulbs and large sign hanging between the garage and basketball hoop. She turned from Gabe to find TJ on one knee, and holding the most spectacular ring she had ever seen. TJ looked up as Amanda stuttered, "Are you serious?!". He nodded and she exclaimed with tears, "Yes! I love you so much, yes!". Family and friends proceeded to emerge from the woods and garage, letting Amanda soak-in the huge surprise they had known all along!
