Our Story

It's always revolved around baseball

It all started at a conference baseball tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I (Taylor) was working the press box and helping with as many other aspects of game days as I could. The stadium was filled with players from opposing teams, but one Indiana boy noticed I was wearing a Cubs shirt. By the end of the weekend, he had shared his number and already began texting me. We kept in touch, spent the whole summer talking through as many forms of communication as we could handle. We even "joked" that, though neither of us were looking for any sort of serious relationship at the time, we'd get married if we were both single by thirty. The longer we stayed in touch, the more we talked. Soon, we jokingly moved up the timeline... if we were both single by twenty-five, we'd give it a shot. I don't think either of us ever really took these as more than jokes at the time. After all, I was spending the summer in Arizona and Dru was nearly 2,000 miles away in Indiana. Soon enough, we found another baseball season rolling around, and we'd still managed to stay in touch through the year. Our jokes turned into a countdown and plans to hang out as another conference series in Tulsa grew closer. We began spending long nights on the phone planning our Tulsa to-do list, and when the weekend finally came, it flew by almost as fast as it had arrived. We both got new jobs still states away from one another and soon we began planning many trips back and forth. A flight to Indiana and back, both road tripping to meet in Tennessee, a quick weekend in Chicago for college football, a birthday road trip down to Texas, two more trips to Indiana, and Dru's first flight to move me up to Indiana! Just a few months later, we moved to Montana for, you guessed it, baseball! I found a dog rescue on Facebook somewhere on the drive between Minneapolis and Fargo, and immediately put in an application... but that's another story. Two dogs later, Dru spent the next summer coaching in Canada where we got engaged in Banff National Park. A few weeks later, we moved to my preferred climate... the desert! Three years in Roswell, New Mexico, flew by where we spent the pandemic and following baseball seasons making friends, playing with the pups, growing grass, and learning new hobbies. Just when Roswell started to feel like home, we found ourselves back in Oklahoma where we'd met back in 2016. After one season here, Dru got promoted to head coach, and we're super excited to continue the adventure back in the state and with the sport that started it all! Seven years, six anniversaries, five moves across state lines, four coaching jobs, three moving trucks, the two best dogs in the world, and one love story later, and we are so excited to finally be able to celebrate with our closest family and friends. Our jokes from the very early days of getting to know one another have both come to fruition- We got engaged at twenty-five, and, with an extended timeline due to the pandemic and the unpredictable life in college coaching, will be married by thirty! Our lives together thus far have been nothing short of a big and often unpredictable adventure, but we can't wait to continue to spend the rest of our adventures alongside one another through every stage and milestone. Thank you each for being a part of our story up to this point and celebrating the continuance of it with us!
