I first met Dan in 2014 as a sophomore at Geneseo through a mutual friend (thanks Ryan Fuller). He was one year older and I thought he was handsome, funny and strong and we connected immediately. Years passed and we we reconnected in 2017. We enjoyed weekend getaways, exploring Rochester and watching Game of Thrones. Distance turned out to be a lonesome barrier and the years passed again. In Spring of 2020, I was home from work. Dan was in his last semester at U of R finishing his MBA. I spent weeks and weekends at a time visiting Dan and our mutual Geneseo friends in the surrounding Rochester area. In a lot of ways, we were already so comfortable and familiar with each other. We already had inside jokes, we knew each other's irks, we knew Dan had to sleep with the TV OFF. I knew I had loved Dan for a long time. When we were both able to be so candid and honest about our feelings towards each other it was like being embraced by your favorite snuggly blanket. Falling fully in love with him was pure and safe and warm and quite simply-easy. We moved in together. We got a dog...we got a cat...we got engaged and the best is yet to come.
I first met Marisa at Geneseo and knew we had a special connection. After graduation, life took us on different paths. But that didn't stop us from keeping us in each other's lives. During the pandemic, Marisa was able to visit Upstate New York a lot where I was living. Many fun times on the Finger Lakes were had. Shoutouts to Mrs. D for sending up eggplant parm and pepperoni rolls. While we would hang out with our friends, we would always find time to sneak off and spend time together. Whether it be at a drive-in movie or hitting Marge's on the Lake for some music and a rum-runner, we couldn't be kept apart. I moved downstate and we instantly reunited. We spent every weekend together, with many nights at 38 Lockwood where I got to know her amazing family. This was in 2020 so there weren't many options, but we had a blast all playing Catan or watching movies. We haven't really looked back from there. We moved in together in Stamford, and added Louie and Toula to our home. We continued to take trips together, having amazing times in places like St Thomas and visiting her grandma in Croatia. During the holiday season of 2023, we visited her family down in North Carolina. Once again together on a lake, it was the right time to ask her to spend the rest of her life with me.
