How We Met

9.16.2018

We met on Tinder (yes, believe it!) After years of swiping, we swiped right on what would be an incredible love story. Our 1st date was at Old Man Rafferty's in New Brunswick, and Stephen ordered water at the bar while waiting for Jacqueline. For dinner, Stephen had chicken parmesan and Jacqueline had a caesar salad. We walked around town afterwards, and Stephen asked Jacqueline for a kiss. Little did he know that kiss would seal the start of the relationship.

will you be my girlfriend?

10.10.2018

Stephen drove all the way to Bloomfield for "Dr. Jacq" to give him a hearing test. Well, he passed! To celebrate, they went to Cuban Pete's in Montclair for dinner. Over mojitos and tapas, they talked and laughed. Stephen asked Jacqueline, "Are we really doing this?" From that day on, she is a 10/10 to him, and he is to her.

The Proposal

2.9.2020

Stephen and Jacqueline planned to go to mass in Ocean at 10am. Brett (Emily's friend) called Stephen and said there was a power outage at his rental house in Asbury, and asked Stephen if he could go check it out. Jacqueline and Stephen agreed to go get coffee in Asbury Park first, then check on the rental, and go the 11am mass instead. After getting his hot coffee, breakfast sandwich, and her iced coffee and doughnut, they walked the boardwalk on one of the warmest winter days. There wasn't a gust of wind coming off the sea... they believe the great weather was from their angels in heaven. After walking halfway down the boardwalk, Jacqueline wanted to turn around as they needed to get to mass. Stephen insisted on finishing the walk, and turned to her and said, "You know how I was supposed to ask your dad, well I did, and your mom, too. I also asked your brothers and the only person left to ask is you. Jacqueline, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" .... and she said "Yes!" Jacqueline held her hand up with the engagement ring to show Granny in heaven. Devin Peppler was waiting at the end of the boardwalk and took beautiful photographs to remember the moment.
