Sean was the new kid in town, surviving his first day of 8th grade at a new school in Scotch Plains, NJ. His final period of the day was history class where he met the pretty, funny (and flirty) Colleen. The two of them enjoyed class-clowning, terrorizing their teacher, and forming an unbreakable "peanut gallery". At the end of the school year, Sean, hopeful for love, gave his chain necklace to Colleen as a sign of affection. Colleen accepted it as a fashion token. When Sean realized Colleen's feelings weren't mutual, he asked for his chain back, but she refused. Unbeknownst to Sean, Colleen had actually lost the chain on a recent trip to Long Beach Island after being wiped out by a wave, and was too embarrassed to tell him the truth. So the two moved on to high school where their classes and groups of friends never aligned, and fate put the two on their own separate paths for the next 18 years. But in May 2022, they reconnected over traumatic health experiences and new beginnings. They were soon playing Mario Kart online and streaming shows together, then going on virtual dates for a while before taking the plunge to visit one another. Well (spoiler), it just worked. They maintained a long-distance relationship for two and a half years, traveling back and forth between Utah and New Jersey. In the Summer of 2023, they returned to Long Beach Island and Colleen bought Sean a new chain to replace the one lost 19 years prior, and their fates were sealed. In early 2024, Colleen made the move to Utah so they would no longer be separated by time or space. The two were finally on their together journey. In a private ceremony on May 4th, 2024 at Vineyard Beach, Colleen and Sean exchanged vows—and rings, this time—and promised to make it forever.
