André and Amanda met at a dance studio in Spring 2013. André overheard the excitement in Amanda’s voice as she described her recent experience at Spice Mas in Grenada, also known as carnival. André, who is of Grenadian descent and had recently created an Atlanta-based carnival band, interrupted and introduced himself. This introduction led to them becoming fast acquaintances. A whole year later, they reconnected at another dance studio and became fast friends who bonded over dancing and Game of Thrones. André and some friends were planning a trip to Miami. When he told Amanda about it she decided to tag along. Needless to say, this trip went really well. Amanda dazzled André. André glamoured Amanda and their relationship evolved from being a couple of friends to a couple about to say, "I do."

André and Amanda had discussed getting married in 2019. To get from dating to marriage, an engagement had to happen and that was all on André. Amanda didn't think that André had a plan but she knew he had a ring! André had his proposal planned months in advance of popping the big question. In December 2018, André bought tickets to a Kermit Ruffins concert - a trumpeter from New Orleans that played the NOLA brass band music the couple had come to love. March 30th was a day that André had planned for months. For Amanda, it was just another fun-filled Saturday. Amanda and André went to the show at City Winery and sat at the best table in the house. When the MC raffled away a gift card and André won, Amanda was ecstatic that they had gotten so lucky. She didn't realize it was all apart of his plan. André pulled Amanda up on stage to "collect his winnings" but little did she know that winning her hand in marriage was the ultimate prize. André, being the consummate charmer, won over the crowd as he regaled them with accounts of his good fortune. So when he asked them for a moment to ask a very important lady a very important question, the crowd went wild. André called Amanda out of the shadows of the stage curtains, passed his hat to the host, got on one knee and popped the question. With a bounce and a giggle, Amanda said yes! The couple danced into the next chapter of their lives with hearts full of excitement for what would come next.
