Travel Note
This is a great option for those looking for a more affordable hotel option - more name brand Hilton, Marriott, etc brands - You have the ability to stay in Cape Cod and ferry over (1 hour ferry ride) daily. We highly recommend the Hyannis to Nantucket route using Hy-Line Cruises. Short, yet beautiful ferry ride from Cape Cod to Nantucket. This ferry drops you off in the middle of downtown Nantucket so no rental car is needed. You can UBER from there if needed. There are several ferry departure/arrival times depending on your needs, earliest starting at 6:10am from Hyannis and arrival in Nantucket at 7:10am. Latest departure looks to be about 9:20pm from Nantucket and arrival in Hyannis at 10:20pm. The cost of a one-way ticket is $49/person and round-trip is $91/person.
Flight
Nantucket does have an airport! Please do your research on whether you prefer to fly directly into Nantucket or prefer to fly into Boston and drive over to Nantucket. You will have to take a ferry to Nantucket if you choose this option. We have been told a layover in Laguardia ensures you will be on a larger plane if you plan on packing a large suitcase and want to stay with it. Other lay overs may put you on a smaller plane that sends luggage behind you. We will be flying directly into Nantucket, with a layover in Laguardia!
Rental Car
We will be providing all transportation on wedding day, after you arrive to church downtown. However, for other days of your trip - a rental car on Nantucket is not required, especially if staying downtown where everything is very walkable. You also have the option to Uber where needed, if you do not plan on moving around the island often. If you do wish to rent a car, we recommend Turo. This will allow you to move around the two different smaller towns outside of main downtown area if you desire - just remember parking is limited. They will deliver your car to the airport upon your arrival, where you will also return. There is also very nice public transportation (free) provided by the city. There is a map of their route online if you wish to utilize this option.
Travel Note
If you fly into Boston, you will have to take a ferry to Nantucket. There is a ferry for just people and an option to take a car over as well. We have been told this option is a bit complicated and must be planned ahead. If you plan on taking a ferry, we recommend getting tickets in advance to ensure your timely arrival. Our favorite ferry service is Hy-Line out of Hyannis which will deliver you in just under an hour. We will be flying directly into Nantucket, with a layover in Laguardia!
