McKenna and Drew met while attending Nokomis High School. With McKenna attending grade school at St. Louis School and Drew attending Nokomis public schools, they didn't really know each other. With encouragement and a nudge from their friend, Taylor Lohman, one day, Drew “made his move” by saying hi (then walking away) to McKenna in the hallway. McKenna at first, thought it was strange, but Drew was persistent. As the days and weeks went on, McKenna gave him a chance and the rest is history. 7 years later, after high school, military basic/tech school, college, new jobs, and deployment, they decided on forever!

Drew pulled off the biggest surprise of the year! He went shopping for the ring, asking his mom for assistance-discreetly, when McKenna went off to work a night shift. He asked McKenna's brother, Griffen, and her parents permission a month before. No one shared a word! Family pictures were planned with Drew's family and McKenna's family under the guise that it is hard to get their schedules to work and both families wanted family pictures so why not do them together, on the same day! McKenna still thought all of this was perfectly normal. His attitude the week of the proposal was low key, but low and behold, did he have a surprise for McKenna! McKenna was completely oblivious to the whole thing, until she turned around and saw him on one knee with a ring. Saying yes was the easiest decision she has ever made. Here’s to forever!
