San Francisco (SFO) or Santa Rosa (STS)
Depends of traffic, but about 90 minutes. We suggest not traveling in and around the Bay from 2-7pm, it gets really bad.
We suggest everyone get an airbnb in Dillon Beach with family or friends. Then everyone is near each other! :) We also have a block at the Dillon Beach Resort.
A beautiful 8 minute drive.
Hiking galore, especially at Point Reyes (https://www.nps.gov/pore/index.htm). Wine tours (winecountry.com). Osmosis Spa in Occidental. Enjoying the beaches. Scenic drives. Checking out the towns of Bodega Bay or Point Reyes. Horseback riding (redwoodhorses.com). Golfing (golfguide.org). Sea Kayaking (bwkayak.com), Kayaking on the Russian River (watertreks.com). Bodega Bay Fishing (http://www.bodegabaysportfishing.com),
Whole Foods and Safeway in Petaluma. Dillon Beach also has a cute market for quick easy grabs open 8am-7pm.
Formal attire only please. This isn’t ‘black tie’ so no tuxedo needed, but suits are. Think country chic, fancy ranch estate vibes. If your natural aesthetic is cowboy/girl attire, we highly welcome fancy western wear too. Women can wear heels, the grounds are landscaped and the barn is ready for dancing. It is fall, so plan accordingly with an evening layer.
Contact Margot, she has a great attachement about all the hiking in Point Reyes National Seashore.
Contact Margot, she can steer you in the right direction.
Kona Lane. In Dillon Beach. Its in the upper neighborhood of Dillon Beach. We like being a bit above the busy lower area, in case we get the music bumping ;)
Hell Yes!! Everyone come!
Yes kids are welcome to the wedding. We love kids. It would be ideal for parents to line up arrangements for kids to get back to the airbnbs or lodging at some point after dinner, so parents can party on :) Nannys or sitters are encouraged.
September and October are the hidden gem weather months in the Bay area. From coastal Sonoma to Big Sur, called 'Indian Summer'. It is the best weather of the whole year, that is why we are getting married right in the middle of it! Sunny, no fog, and gorgeous sunsets. You will definitely want a layer in the evenings. The barn at the wedding will be plenty warm from all the love and dancing, and there will be heaters on the deck.
Nature is nature, and we can't control it. That is why we are getting hitched where we are, on and near the coast. This was highly considered in our decision making process. In years past, when Sonoma had some pretty bad fires, it was totally clear in both Dillon Beach and Tomales. We asked many locals and did our research. If you live in California and it happens to be smokey in your town during our wedding, ever the more reason to come party and breath fresh air.
Practically anywhere, seriously. If you are cruising around and adventuring though, Bodega Bay Oyster Company is in Valley Ford. Just north of Tomales (not in Bodega Bay). Its a cute little spot with outdoor picnic seating and you order at the counter. You can get many types of oysters and a few other seafood option bites, as well as beer/wine. Really nice and casual to roll up with no plans or reservations needed.
Epic right? Thats the famous cypress tree tunnel out in Point Reyes National Seashore
