On a typical Friday night at Santa Clara University we both attended a mixer hosted by our respective sorority and fraternity. Dressed in clothes that were extremely tight and bright, we met while each acting a wingman/woman for a friend. While those two lacked chemistry, the sparks flew between us. Lucie was attracted to Drew's confidence in mulitcolored leggings and gold sequined jacket. Drew couldn't help but fall for her smile and awesome dance moves. After many more greek life events and bay area adventures, our casual college romance continued much beyond the days at SCU.
After summiting Bear Peak in Boulder, we recharged with peanut butter sandwiches and enjoyed the stillness of the mountains. As it started to lightly snow, Lucie was ready to get going, espeically with a few miles still ahead. Drew was stalling and completely surprised Lucie by getting down on on knee. She repeated "are you serious?!" followed by "of course" and the moment was documented just one selfie since there weren't many other people crazy enough to be hiking in November.
We planned a secret elopement and only shared our plans with our parents. We had decided to hike around Brainard Lake and celebrate at sunset in the mountains. That day we drove up to the lake at 10,000 feet elevation to find ourselves in 30 degree weather with fog so thick the lake was completey hidden. Since we hadn't prepared for winter conditions, we headed back to Chautauqua Park in Boulder and married ourselves at the base of the flatirons with our sweet pup, Hank, as our witness.
