In 2014, Drew started working at Panera Bread, where Lewis had been employed for 3 years. At first they didn't spend much time together, working primarily in different areas. A few months later, Drew started training in making food, Lewis was her trainer! They started talking, joking, and flirting. Their relationship blossomed and they started spending every day together.

On Christmas 2017, Lew and Drew were celebrating with Lew's family. Lew's Christmas gift to Drew was a bottle of champagne. When he gave her the bottle to unwrap, he started playing Charlie's Song from The Nightman Cometh, from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That being Drew's favorite TV show, she knew exactly what was going on. As she unwrapped the bottle of champagne, a box fell from the bottom. Lew quickly picked it up, opened it and positioned himself in front of Drew. He dropped to one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" Drew's responded, "Obviously!"
