Where it all began

Our story begins in college. The first time I spoke to Drew was in our Macroeconomics class one time and this is how it went: Me: "You're sister-in-law is Autumn, right? Drew: "Yeah she's super nice" Me: "Cool" (Drew doesn't recall our first conversation.) After that class our paths never crossed mainly due to full class loads, sports, full-time jobs, and Drew moving to Guam temporarily. Fast forward to Spring Semester 2019. We had a powderpuff team that was coached by Drew, Caleb (my brother-in-law), and Garrett (groomsman). The day of the tournament, Drew coached our team to victory and to celebrate, another girl and I poured water all over him. Leading into that summer, I saw Drew a few times at a church softball league where we talked occasionally. Going into senior year I saw Drew off and on. One thing I forgot to mention was that I knew Drew's mom really well and talked to her almost every day. I noticed that she started to bring up Drew quite a bit which I thought was interesting. We started talking during basketball nationals in the spring of my senior year. I was so excited to finally be officially talking to Drew Stevens! He asked me out for coffee right when we got back from the trip. The date was perfect and we talked for 5 hours... even after the coffee shop closed we went outside to talk in the cold. Drew and I hung out one last time before I left to go home because of the pandemic. It was during that date that we knew we could have something special. Since COVID forced us to be long-distance for the rest of the semester, the next few weeks our hang outs consisted of FaceTime calls, long phone calls, and texting. Drew finally came up and visited me on the family farm for the weekend of my birthday. On April 12, 2020, Drew asked me to be his girlfriend at our favorite barn.

The Proposal

The Barn

In the months following the start of our relationship, we would take weekend trips to visit each other. I was blessed to get a job offer during the summer which lead to me moving down to Watertown in July. Finally getting to live close to each other was a huge benefit of moving there and our relationship started to take off. Frequently, Drew and I got to visit my parents in the U.P. for the weekend when our job schedules were open. For one trip up, my recently married twin sister, Karley, was planning on visiting as well so we could all spend some time together. On the morning of October 12, 2020, we all decided to go back to our favorite barn where my parents also grew pumpkins. The barn looks rustic and timeless in the fall, so Drew and Karley convinced me that we should go and take pictures. Karley was "taking a picture" of us as we were standing in front of the barn... and while she was taking the pictures, Drew knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was a beautiful moment in front of our favorite spot exactly 6 months after we started dating! I couldn't have asked for a more special day or a more special person to be getting married to! So on June 12th, we'll be celebrating our love with friends and family not far from my childhood home. We are so excited to celebrate and share our special day with you!
