Minding his own business at a local death metal show, Drew was accosted at the bar by a girl named Jordon. She had come to the show with her husband and two girlfriends and was determined to find each of them a sweet, sensitive metal loving boyfriend. She did a preliminary interview of Drew making sure he was of the correct age and conversation level to make it to the second round of interviews. He passed her tests and she brought Charlotte over to meet him after the next set. Drew and Charlotte had a brief and chemistry filled conversation. At some point Jordon demanded "you better ask for her number" and Drew responded "I'm trying too!" and they exchanged information. Their first date was at a bar down the street from their wedding venue called Sputnik. They shared drinks and interesting conversation that flowed so well that they didn't ever get around to ordering food because they couldn't focus on the menu for long enough. Their second date was AT their wedding venue, the Skylark Lounge, chasing each other around the pool table and not wanting to stop chatting to take their next shot. Many following dates were spent on South Broadway over the next four years as well as many local concert venues, sporting events, comedy shows and restaurants.
