Drew and I matched on Bumble, so we started chatting. After a while he told me that it was scientifically proven that teachers and firemen are made for each other. I laughed and agreed to meet him for dinner. We went to Domincks, I took one bite of my dinner because the conversation was that good. We got our meals to go and continued talking for hours at a bar near by. I remember calling my MOH that night and telling her he was the one. The rest all just started to fall into place, every thing from that point on just felt right.
Whew. This was a seriously long day. It was the last official day of school, and my last day working at RES. Which meant that my entire classroom needed to be loaded up and moved. I had pumenonia and wanted no part in the actual moving process, so Drew came to the rescue and did most of the heavy lifting alone. If you know me, you know that I am the world’s biggest baby when I don’t feel good and this day was no exception. After we loaded up all my stuff, we headed to Drew’s moms to store it for the summer. I was hoping that when we got there his mom would see how icky I felt and would offer to cancel dinner, but she didn’t. We had made plans weeks in advance to celebrate the end of the school year, and us officially living together. Drew and I were headed home so I could take a nap and try to rally for dinner, and still no offers to cancel. I got up, got dressed and got in the car in a less than pleasant mood. That is until I realized that Drew had made a playlist of all “our” songs. He was singing to me and being super sweet. We finally made it to Dominick’s in Downtown Norcross, and Drew parked so far away. I was confused but didn’t say much, because I knew I had already been a pain in his ass all day long. We are walking up this hill, and we started to turn the corner and that’s when I knew something was going on. I saw both of our entire families lining the sidewalk with cameras and flowers in hand. We didn’t even make it across the street before Drew was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was overwhelmed with emotions, I covered my face and cried. I finally pulled it together and managed to squeal out a yes and put it one. Everyone was cheering and there to help us celebrate, cars were honking, and onlookers congratulating us. It was magical and more than I could have ever imagined.
