Ally was visiting friends who attended The University of Iowa with Drew. They exchanged glances throughout the evening and later in the night jokingly held hands crossing Washington Street in Iowa City. Something about their connection felt special, and they started dating at the end of that Summer, September 12th, 2020!

The day had started like any other Saturday. We had our morning coffee, went to the gym, and watched House Hunters. Drew was acting slightly out-of-character… quiet! We had plans to grab dinner with friends later in the evening at a casual restaurant near our apartment. I noticed that Drew had put on a nicer outfit than anticipated. That is when the thought of, “am I getting engaged today?” began to eagerly grow. As we left for dinner we were walking across the street and I could feel Drew subtly guiding me to an unusual spot on the sidewalk. He pulled my hand, turned me around, and just smiled for a moment. Before I knew it, he was reaching into his back pocket and getting down on one knee. Of course I said “YES!” (once I was able to stop crying and get the word out) We're so excited to kick-off this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Chicago!
