Things To Do, See & Eat

The Wedding Website of Lindsey Monroe and Drew Kirkner
Richmond is a town filled with loads of history, museums and food and drink! Below are a few historical sites to check out while you're in town as well as some of our favorite restaurants.

Brown's Island

Richmond, VA 23219

The park stretches along the James River in downtown Richmond. Visit the American Civil War Museum located here or stroll across the pedestrian bridge to take in views of the city skyline from the middle of the James River.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220
, (804) 340-1400

Lindsey’s favorite spot in Richmond. Free to the public every day. Peruse floors and floors of collections from all over the world. Take a break in the cafe or out on the lawn with a glass of wine or espresso.

Historic St. John's Church

2401 East Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23223
, (804) 648-5015

An active church and historical landmark where Patrick Henry delivered his “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech. Located just east of downtown in the Church Hill neighborhood (and where the neighborhood gets its name). After your visit, stop in for a quick bite at Patrick Henry’s Tavern, located just up the street.

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

1800 Lakeside Avenue, Richmond, VA 23228
, (804) 262-9887

Indoor flowers, y’all! Just a few minutes away from downtown, Lewis Ginter has 50 acres of gardens, plus a conservatory, library cafe and tea house restaurant.

Carytown

Richmond, VA 23221

Stroll along the sidewalks of Carytown, a neighborhood just west of downtown, to find great boutiques, consignment shops, cafes and restaurants.

Breweries

Richmond is known for its bustling brewery scene. Below are some of our favorites. Stop in for a pint or plan a mini tour - all of the Scott’s Addition locations are within walking distance to one another. Scott's Addition Neighborhood: The Veil – Hazy, New England style IPAs Väsen – Scandinavian-inspired brewery; they specialize in saisons and farmhouse style ales Ardent – The selection really runs the gamut whether you love IPAs, pilsners or dark beers Three Notch’d – Citrus IPAs and stouts; for those who aren’t huge beer drinkers, there’s a pour-your-own-wine bar next door! Circuit Bar – Not a brewery, but an arcade bar filled with taps for pour-your-own beer, wine, or cider Courthouse Creek Cider – Dry, refreshing ciders Blue Bee – Mix of dry and funkier ciders as well Downtown: Triple Crossing – Delicious all around; the downtown location is a small tasting room, while the Fulton location is larger and has brick-oven pizza More details on our favorites at the link below!

Breakfast & Brunch Spots

Perly’s – The sandwiches are amazing, and you won’t want to miss out on the pierogies! Note: Get there early if you can - it fills up on Saturday and Sunday. Nate’s Bagels – Delicious bagels. Drew gets the Ol Virginny; Lindsey sticks to Everything with scallion cream cheese. Kuba Kuba - Fun, Cuban spot located in The Fan neighborhood. Everything on the menu is yummy. Drew never leaves here without ordering a cafe con Leche! More details on our favorites at the link below!

Lunch & Dinner Spots

Pupatella – Neapolitan style pizza, located in The Fan. Perfect for lunch. Sabai – Thai food; we used to live across the street and LOVE this place. ZZQ – If you’re jonesing for barbecue, this is the spot. Rappahannock Restaurant – Perfect for the fall season! They farm most of their oysters about an hour from Richmond. Pasture – Created by Pulaski native Jason Alley, Pasture serves awesome Southern fare and very solid cocktails to boot. Edo Squid – Amazing Italian food nestled at the top of a hidden staircase in The Fan neighborhood. One of Drew’s favorites. Saison – Entrees are delish and the cocktails are delightful. Saison restaurant is only open for dinner, but Saison Market (right next door) is open all day. Stella’s – Greek! Lindsey’s favorite restaurant in Richmond. Dutch and Company – Located in a small corner spot in Church Hill, you can get a three-course prix fixe meal for $29. The flavors are insane! More details on our favorites at the link below!
