One winter evening, There was a nice party. While a girl was waiting, She kept working hearty. Someone told an office She didn't know how To close up the center, She needed him now. It wasn't the truth, She knew the procedure. Someone was a sleuth- Wanted him to meet her. She didn't know why He was there that night. Still she said hi- He was quite a sight! His posture was strong His blue eyes so bright. They talked so long That even the boss said goodnight! It was time to go, His shift at its end, But he hoped to know- "The part you'll attend?" She said "I am!" And he held a grin. And so it began, The tiny flame within.
I once met a girl from Cali. With her I knew I shouldn't dally. So I asked her out on a hike- To which she said she would like. It went so well, I'm with her still, Down here South of Alligator Alley!
I guess I wasn't lying, Time sure showed me. Not what I expected- Something I thought I'd never see. Someone who's available And ready to be A partner, a friend, Lifelong family. We were folding socks The night you asked me... "What if I said I loved you?" I wasn't quite ready, As in my face you could see, To use my words like that Without anxiety. But I had stated to realize All I did see And how great life is When I have you with me. It took me some time To figure myself out And how you patiently waited Now gives me no doubt- I love you, You love me. And whatever comes through, I know we can be.
