Alex & Anna met on May 18, 2019, on Anna's first day as a hostess at Captain James Crabhouse in Baltimore. As a kid, Anna & her dad used to go to Captain James for breakfast before taking the water taxi to Anna's daycare (which was in Canton). Captain James had always been a big part of their lives, from going there for breakfast to going to the crab house side for crabs every year for Anna's birthday & her dad's birthday. It became a family tradition. On Anna's first day working there, she immediately noticed Alex behind the kitchen window and thought "Hmm, he's kind of cute" but didn't think anything of it then. Little did Anna know, it was Alex’s family's restaurant. Later that evening, a few coworkers wanted to go out and asked if Anna would join them. They all went out, and at some point that night they ended up in a pizza shop, where Alex sat next to Anna. He asked everyone around him, "so who's going to go to Greece with me this summer?" Anna immediately said "I will," Alex thought Anna was kidding (but little did he know, she would never pass up an opportunity to travel, so she was 100% serious). At one point that night when they were walking to another bar, they stopped at a little pretzel shop in the heart of Fells Point. The guy at the counter had said something in Italian, which Anna understood and responded to in Italian. The guy then looked at Alex and said "you better marry that girl." After they connected over this, they began hanging out more and more, taking spontaneous trips together to Ocean City, D.C., and trying all the newest restaurants in Baltimore. They even ended up going to Greece together that summer (she told him she wasn't kidding when she said she would go!) The rest was history, & it felt like they had known each other forever. Their 6-year anniversary together will be June 11th, 2025.
