Our New Last Name

Our earliest decision about marriage was a non-traditional one.
It had never sat right with Reina that she'd be expected to take David's last name—centuries of social norms be damned—but she also didn't want to simply keep her given name (or hyphenate).
As we stepped into a new chapter of our lives, it only made sense to do so with unity. And as lovers of words, we couldn't think of a better symbol of unity than a new name.
We wanted to create something completely unique. We found ourselves drawn to Old English, a source of shared heritage and a language we've both studied extensively.
Though we're alike in many ways, our personalities are quite different. David is brave and outgoing, while Reina is level-headed and empathetic. We've always felt like a mix of fire and water.
