Planning a longer stay?

In case you want to wander around pre/post wedding, enjoy! All of these cities have airports to fly into, most international airlines will have a layover in Bogota. Avianca and LATAM are the two most trusted in-country airlines to book through.

Cartagena

Andrea’s hometown

The heart of Colombia’s tourism! Cartagena is right on the water and offers a historic walled city which was built to defend from pirates back in the day. Original architecture has been preserved inside the walled city that hosts top restaurants, a vibrant bar scene (has a top 50 bar in the world) and a great area to walk around and get lost in. Tour the "El Castillo de San Felipe" to learn more about the history of Cartagena and ride a chiva (Colombian party bus) that will take you around all the must see spots. Plenty of hotels and airbnb's to choose from, depending on what you want! Best for a weekend experience, expect Caribbean culture and scenes!

Islas del Rosario

Happy place :)

Archipelago of islands ~1 hour away, by boat, from the coast of Cartagena. Top hotel recommendation is Majagua, a part of Hotel Santa Clara. Day trips or overnight stays are available … stay overnight for one of the most calming and beautiful experiences!

Bogota

Capital

Colombia’s largest city and the nation’s capital. Expect your typical city vibes with museums, top restaurants and a vibrant night life. Visit Cerro Monserrate via cable car, foot or funicular. The view of Bogota from this mountain top is one of the best. Top areas to stay are Zona Rosa (Zona T) or around "Parque de la 93". You will be close to bars and restaurants and all the fun Bogota has to offer. If you have the option, pop into "Andres D.C. Bogota" - an iconic restaurant chain known for it's atmosphere, live music and cuisine.

Eje Cafetero

Colombia’s Coffee Region - Pereira

You’d fly into Pereira and drive down to Salento. Experience Colombia’s “country” side and dive into coffee plantations and el Valle del Cocora - a valley home to the worlds largest palm trees. Experience this through horseback riding or by foot. More calm and laid back. Expect day trips and cooking at home coupled with some star gazing. Airbnb’s will be your best bet for accommodations.

Medellin

(Almost) the city we get married in!

You will be flying into Medellin’s airport! Take advantage and go “down” to the city for a couple of nights if you wish! Medellin is Colombia’s second largest city, known as the city of the eternal spring. Plan a day trip to Comuna 13 to experience and learn about Medellin’s history. This is a 10/10 recommendation. Tours are available both in English and Spanish and are bookable via GetYourGuide or Viator. There are plenty of hotels available in El Poblado, the recommended neighborhood to stay at if going down to Medellin. A couple recommendations are Diez Hotel and Hotel Dann. Provenza is the top bar area to go out in. Both of these hotels are within walking distance to Provenza! Please be aware that from Medellin to the venue will be about a 2-2.5 hour car ride.
