Nov 2016 - we meet briefly at a birthday party. Alex was introduced to me as “the Swede.” Dec 2016 - we meet again at a holiday party. Two friends tell me I should really talk to him, he’s a Swede and he’s wonderful. So I walk up very cool and say, “I’ve heard good things about you.” This will forever be Alex’s proof that it was I who picked him up. We had a dance and a kiss, and he disappeared into the night. We did not exchange numbers. But we have mutual friends, if he wants my number he’ll get it, right? Feb 2017 - Superbowl Sunday. The Swede is having more Swedes over for the most American tradition. I attend. He’s the host with the most. I STAY LATE to help clean up. He puts an arm around me. He does not ask for my number. Mar 2017 - we meet again, out dancing. I’m surprised that he has not yet made a move. I tell him “you should probably ask me on a date.” He is stunned and impressed, and he agrees that he should have asked me on a date a long time ago. He disappears for three weeks to Sweden. Apr 2017 - He CALLS me on the phone (alarming). He’s back and ready for our date. But I’m not. I’m in Seattle doing business deals because I’m very important ;) We schedule a date upon my return. 4/22/17 - At last, our first date. We had Korean BBQ, followed by surprise ping pong, and feeling like the night should continue, we caught a late set at Smalls jazz club. We spent the next couple months falling in love with each other, and further in love with our city. June 2017 - Montauk, our first trip together. On the beach he told me he loves me. I think he must be insane because it’s been barely two months. But I loved him too. Three years later, on the same beach, he knelt in the sand with my family ring, and asked me to marry him. I wiggled while he did his little speech, and beach-goers cheered when I said yes. We look forward to a lifetime of dancing, traveling, hosting, and sharing love with our friends and family, and we cant wait to party with you!
