In 2023, after Darby graduated college, she moved back in with her parents. While on the job hunt, she worked at Starbucks where she met Jacob. They talked here and there but never hung out until July when Jacob mentioned a Thai place. Darby chimed in that she wanted to try it so they made plans quickly after their shift. It turns out the Thai place was closed so Darby showed Jacob her favorite Korean Hot Dog place. The two began to talk and realized they had a lot in common. The rest of the summer they continued to go on fun adventures whether it was sitting in the car until midnight talking or taking a roadtrip. In November, Jacob asked Darby to officially be his girlfriend. The two continued their adventures and Darby moved in with Jacob and his mom in January. By next November, Jacob (with Darby's coaxing) had decided to enlist in the Space Force. Darby wrote a letter to Jacob everyday that he was gone without contact (51 letters). In April 2025, Jacob proposed to Darby when she went to visit him during Easter. The two explored Santa Barbara and even went whale watching. Now that Jacob is back home, Jacob and Darby live in Fredericksburg, VA with their pup Pepper.
