Matt and Emma met in March at a Spikeball tournament. Matt was organizing the teams that day and, without knowing it, paired himself with the person who would become his forever teammate. From the start, their competitive spirits were obvious, but so was their natural chemistry. Later that same week, Emma attended a Bible study that Matt was leading. What began as friendly conversation quickly turned into something deeper as they bonded over their shared love for the Lord and for serving others. In the weeks that followed, they found themselves spending more and more time together within the same circle of friends—gathering around bonfires, watching movies, hiking, and sharing long conversations at dinner parties. The next month, Matt invited Emma to attend church with him in Okemos, Michigan, on a Sunday evening. When he dropped her off at home that night, he asked her on a date for the very next day, and she happily said yes. From the beginning of their relationship, Matt and Emma were intentional about discussing the things that mattered most to them: faith, values, marriage, and the kind of parents they hoped to be someday. As their relationship grew, it became clear that what they had was special. They admired one another’s discipline, character, and shared commitment to centering Christ in every part of life. It didn’t take long for them to realize that God had been writing their story long before they ever met. In September, while hiking Emma’s favorite trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes, Matt led her all the way down to the water. At the end of the hike, surrounded by God’s creation, Matt got down on one knee and asked Emma to marry him. She said yes. That evening, they returned to the cottage and celebrated with close friends, hearts full of gratitude and joy. As they look ahead, Matt and Emma are excited to build a life rooted in faith, purpose, and love. Their prayer is to keep Jesus at the center of their marriage, to serve others together, and to reflect God’s grace in the home they are creating—now and for generations to come. “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” Proverbs 24:3–4
