Flash back to April 2023 I was back and forth between North Carolina and California, when I met him. The app that was meant to be deleted almost got deleted without us ever meeting, but a “teach me how to surf” message led to a phone call which led to a coffee date that ultimately led you here to read our story :) ( Update: I still don’t know how to surf, the Pacific is freezing and powerful. I am trying though! ) David and I first met at Philz coffee in Willow Glen to share a couple minutes before I had to go to work a night shift. Who knew this one coffee date would turn into a lifetime of coffee dates? And it was one of those dates where the conversation was f l o w i n g not just the coffee. You know the cliche saying “I feel like I’ve known you forever”? That’s exactly how it felt. After the coffee we shared music through messages with each other to make the moment last until we met again..
On April 17th, 2023 I made a phone call. One of the most important calls in my life, turns out. Morgan and I spoke for hours, it came easy and natural. I wanted to get to know this woman and to see where it could lead. A few days later, April 20th we met for a coffee in Willow Glen, a sweet Honey Haze, perfectly paired with my sentiments in that moment. Time was short, she had to get to a night shift but I remember driving away from there, listening to some sweet songs, looking out my rear view at this beautiful woman I was so keen to get to know. 3 months later, Morgan flew out to join me in France for a week. We were there sitting at these steps leading down to the bay, watching the sunset and I asked her to go steady. The next step, officially a girlfriend. I remember walking back through those medieval cobblestone streets glowing with the warmth of that inexplicable feeling of love. We have since had some incredible adventures, from Australia and New Zealand to Europe. From the East coast to the West Coast, and the Mountains to the sea. It has been a bit of a wild ride but one I wouldn't share with anyone else. Through the good times and the bad, Morgan has been there for me and my family. It's wild to think how life's road winds its way, but it's beautiful and I am lucky to have found my person, my partner to share it with.
