Our story together starts back at Thomas Aquinas when Meg and Pat both were working as prefects at the Summer Program. Meg was obviously the favorite prefect, and it was there that Pat realized she was most definitely his favorite prefect as well. After the summer program, he found any and every excuse to hang out with her, and finally worked up the courage to ask her on a date. Luckily for him, she has a heart of gold and decided to give him a chance. From mini golfing on that first date, to evacuating from the Thomas Fire together, and writing letters back and forth while Pat was at OCS, Pat was sunk. He knew that Meg was the one, and so a semester was spent ring shopping with his friend Michael (He can now admit that he made far less trips “to the brewery” than it seemed), and plotting how to ask her to marry him. Pat wanted to be sure that the proposal was a surprise, and so he worked together with a friend to set up a few “photoshoots” throughout the year. Finally, on a rainy day in February, they had another photoshoot planned at the Taft Botanical Gardens. While the photos were being taken, their friend had to step away for a minute to “take a phone call”. (Pat and Meg share a liking for Taco Bell, and it's sort of tradition to give each other packets from visits) As soon as they were alone, Pat took out a sauce packet and rubber band ring Meg had given him a year before, that said “Marry Me” on it. Only stuttering a little bit, he managed to get out the big question and thankfully, Meg said yes. There is still debate on whether he finished his sentence before she agreed, but either way it was an incredibly happy time. Now, we ask you to join us in beautiful Michigan for the sacrament and celebration of our Marriage. We're looking forward to being in the same state together again, and to seeing our loved ones. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of this special day and a part of our lives in the future.
As you all know, the current pandemic has changed a lot of plans for us: Meg’s college graduation has been postponed, and pat’s travel plans have been majorly affected. Most importantly however, is the change in plans regarding our wedding. We had planned a big celebration on May 23, when we would celebrate with friends and family and finally be in the same place again. Now, with the travel restrictions and social distancing orders, we have drastically altered that plan. Our wedding will be on May 15, with a simple and private ceremony. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused to anyone who had been planning on attending. We would love it if you would participate in the ways that you can! We will be live streaming the wedding mass and the link will be available on the website and through email. Party with us! We have the essentials: the bride and groom, the rings, and the marriage license (even with all the trouble it took to acquire 😉) We would love it if you would bring the people and the party: send us a picture on May 15 of you watching the live stream and “standing there” with us as we begin our lives together. You are all in our prayers and we ask that you keep us in yours!
