How We Met

One time, at band camp...

Brandon and Chelsea met at Notre Dame High School Irish Knight Band new member orientation in 2011. They had been briefly acquainted through Brandon's sister, Taylor, but had never taken the opportunity to get to know each other. (Fun fact - Chelsea and Brandon appeared in the same group Homecoming picture in 2009, each standing with their respective dates at the time). Chelsea maintained her friendship with Taylor and even Ryan Herrin, but regularly commented that Brandon seemed to have something against her. When they would pass each other in a narrow hallway, Brandon would make a point to look the opposite direction. When they ran into each other in the summer of 2011 at band camp, Chelsea was determined to break the ice. Chelsea was serving as Captain of the Dance Flags team and Brandon was a new percussion recruit, attending his first day of Drum Line activities. During a lunch break, Chelsea marched over to Brandon and forced their first conversation over a plate of signature soggy band caesar salad. During that meal a few sarcastic comments were made, a few croutons were shared, and ultimately, a love story for the ages began.

Proposal in the Emerald City

February 19th 2018

For Christmas of 2017, Brandon surprised Chelsea with a two week Starlight Amtrak trip up the coast. They boarded the train in Los Angeles and arrived in Seattle the following evening. Although they had traveled Europe extensively while living in London throughout university, this was the first trip Brandon had taken charge of planning on his own. They spent the first leg of the trip visiting the Pike Place Market, taking ghost tours, and drinking plenty of coffee. Shortly before moving on to Vancouver, Canada, Brandon surprised Chelsea with dinner reservations at Canlis, an architectural home turned restaurant with stunning views. Upon their arrival, they were immediately led away from the main dining area and into a private room over looking the Seattle Bay. There was champagne waiting on the table, multiple courses of Chelsea's favorite foods, and a diamond ring with dessert. Full of fresh pasta, Chelsea said "Wait... is this a joke?" multiple times before finally settling on "YES!"
