It all started back in 2012 when we were introduced by a mutual friend. We hit it off and started a relationship. We were both young, so it wasn't the most stable of relationships I have to admit. There was a lot of breaking up, getting back together, breaking up, you get the idea. Six years went by before we had heard about each other again. We had both gone through a lot of life experiences in our own worlds, but I truly believe that we were meant to be together. Shawn was the first person Jacqueline had dated and somehow the universe knew that after a little growing up, from both sides, they would find each other again. Fast forward to February 2019. Jacqueline was sitting in her living room waiting for her Uber to the airport for a much needed week long vacation in Arizona when, while scrolling Facebook Shawn Dowdell came up as a suggested friend. A few days before Shawn had seen Jacqueline on Bumble but wasn't too sure about it so did not swipe. Jacqueline sent a friend request to Shawn hoping to catch up. 2.7 seconds later Shawn messaged Jacqueline and the rest is history. Until I met Shawn I never believed in "everything happens for a reason", but then there I was one year out of heartbreak and the first boy I ever loved came back to me forever.
We were at home just the two of us and decided to go finish our Christmas shopping. Shawn knows that I will never go to the mall without getting ready so he thought this was the perfect opportunity! I knew something was up because he kept coming up to check on me, "to see how I was coming along", and then would go back downstairs. He did this about 3 times and then told me what colour to paint my nails haha. After I was done getting ready I came down the stairs, turned left and saw Shawn standing in the living room in front of the Christmas tree. Everything blurred out except the ring box and I freaked out. We had talked about it for so long but I did not know that it was coming at that moment. I ran around the corner and Shawn had to come get me and calm me down a bit. Poor guy had set it up all romantic, had his camera recording, our song on, and I blew it! Then, he pulled me back into the living room where the tree was lit and got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! (I am very thankful he decided to ask one more time) It was a very special intimate moment we will always remember. Although we would have loved to have our friends and family with us to celebrate, we are so excited to celebrate our love and marriage with you all!!
