Our Story

Will and Monica met through the Hill family. Will was a long time friend of her brother Alex and almost the entire Hill family, except for Monica. Not that they disliked each other or anything,  their paths just never really crossed. Until a camping trip on Memorial Day weekend 2018. The two hit it off pretty quickly, and somehow always found themselves paired together for hikes, tubing, and the “Camping Olympics” competition. While Monica played it cool, Will was head over heels. After Memorial Day, both Will and Monica jumped at every invitation from Alex (and his wife Jessica) to hike or swim or see a movie that summer, in hopes that the other would also be there.  After one of those hikes, Monica ended up alone with Will driving him back to his car.  They had a great time together, but unfortunately at the end of the ride Will quickly got out of the car and left.  The next day Monica came home from kayaking to a voicemail from Will.  It was the best awkward voicemail she had ever received, in which Will asked her out on a date.  She immediately called her friend, who convinced Monica to call Will back.  Monica can't remember that phone call at all, but does recall that that call led to the best first date ever. Will pretty much knew he was going to marry her from the third date, but decided to be reasonable and wait about a year before going all-in.

The Proposal

After more than a year of dating (and some not-so-subtle hints from Monica) Will decided it was time for action! With the help of his sister Sarah (a very talented photographer) Will planned a surprise mountain-top proposal. Giving Monica the impression that Sarah wanted to go on one last hike before winter, the three set out for a recently finished trail in the Cascades. It was the perfect autumn day. They reached the top to find a small rock ledge with a gorgeous view overlooking the valley. It was also packed with people. Thankfully after a little "bush-whacking", they were able to find an even smaller rock ledge away from the crowds with the same gorgeous view overlooking the valley. As they posed for pictures, Will got down on one knee, and asked Monica to marry him. Obviously she said yes, because they now have a wedding website.
