FAQs

We appreciate you taking the time to stop by and read our FAQ page! This will ensure you are the most prepared for our event and have something to refer to day-of in case you have any last minute questions (pro tip: don't ask Mallory or Caleb any of these questions...especially not on wedding day:))
Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

We ask that you RSVP by August 1, 2026 to be included on our seating chart, food and beverage list, dessert preparation, etc...like seriously just do it :)

Question

Is there a wedding registry?

Answer

Absolutely! We have a registry on our website (Registry tab) with a wide range of options from cash funds to highly valued gifts. We will also have a card box at our wedding welcome table. Note: While we appreciate your generosity, you are not obligated to get us a gift; we appreciate your presence more than anything!

Question

What time should I arrive at the venue?

Answer

Our family ushers will be ready to assist in parking at 3:30pm and you will be able to find your seats at 4:00pm. Access to the barn will be limited upon arrival, so please try to use the restroom prior to your arrival at the venue. However, if you have an emergency, bathrooms will be open in the barn if necessary.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Yes, and there will be parking attendants to assist in directing parking. NOTE: Parking is limited at Laurel Mill, so carpooling is highly encouraged! Laurel Mill has a gravel drive and parking lot with extended grass parking. You can check out our Gallery page for a map of the venue!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding will be an outdoor ceremony (grass) and an indoor/outdoor barn reception. Note: The majority of the barn is NOT temperature controlled, but there will be plenty of fans and temperature controlled bathrooms! If the weather does not allow for an outdoor ceremony, the ceremony will take place inside the venue's barn, then flipped for the reception. Note: If at any point during the ceremony/reception you need temperature controlled accommodations due to health and safety, a Laurel Mill staff member or member of the Bridal Party can show you to a temperature controlled space.

Question

What is the wedding dress code?

Answer

This will be a semi-formal event. We want you to look and feel your best, but we also want you to be comfortable in the more-than-likely August heat. In terms of colors: go for florals, soft pastels, greens, and earthy tones -- you'll be right on theme! If you are considering wearing heels, beware that the ceremony will take place on grass (the chunkier the heel, the better:))

Question

Are there accommodations near the venue?

Answer

While our venue is more secluded than most, there is still easy access to both Bedford and Bloomington, Indiana. Bedford hotels range from 20-25 minutes driving distance and Bloomington hotels range from 30-40 minutes. We do not have designated hotel blocks, so we recommend booking early to ensure you have a place to stay if you are traveling a long distance!

Question

Is the wedding kid friendly?

Answer

Our wedding will be kid-friendly, but limited to family members only. If your child is not included on our guest list/RSVP form, we kindly ask that you find a place for them to stay while you are celebrating with us. (On a similar note, if your children have been included on our Guest list, but you would prefer they stay home while you are celebrating with us, do not feel that they are obligated to join. Just know you have options!)

Question

Are plus-ones allowed?

Answer

If your RSVP form indicates a plus-one, you are more than welcome to bring a guest. Otherwise, our guest list is limited to only those who receive an invite.

Question

Are pictures allowed during the wedding ceremony and reception?

Answer

While we ask that you remain seated and out of the way of our paid photographer during our ceremony, we invite you to capture many memories on our special day!

Question

Will there be food at the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We will have a selection of finger foods available during our cocktail hour as well as a full buffet at our reception. Desserts will also be available throughout the evening. Note: When you RSVP, please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. We will do our best to accommodate them with our caterer!

Question

Will there be an open bar at the wedding?

Answer

Yes, we will have an open beer & wine selection. We will also have optional signature drinks available for purchase at the bar ($6 each). We want you to have fun, but we also kindly ask that you drink responsibly and have a solid plan to get home/to your place of stay!

Question

Can I leave my car at the venue overnight?

Answer

If you deem it necessary to get an alternate form of transportation at the end of the night, you are able to leave your car in the parking lot overnight, BUT IT MUST BE REMOVED BY 10:00 AM SUNDAY MORNING.
