Aufruf (Yiddish for "calling up") is a Jewish custom wherein one or both members of a couple are called up to say the blessings before and after the Torah reading at synagogue the Saturday morning before their wedding. Everyone is welcome to come, but it’s entirely optional. Just be prepared for a lot of Hebrew. :) Lunch will be served afterward. Please let us know if you're coming, preferably at least a week in advance, so that we can make sure there's enough food for everyone.
4:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Hebrew for "Receiving Faces" - the brides will be greeting guests in separate rooms at the wedding venue, prior to the ceremony. Come early and say hi!
4:30 pm - 5:00 pm
Between the Kabbalat Panim and the wedding ceremony, there are two private rituals with only the brides, the rabbi, and a small number of witnesses in attendance. If you want to greet the brides before the ceremony, please come in time for the Kabbalat Panim, as they will be otherwise occupied during this time.
