The month before Douglas’s senior prom while at a family cookout Nonnie suggested to me that I go with Douglas to his prom because his date had bailed. Candice, Douglas’s sister, gave me his phone number to text him later to ask him about it. After the day I first texted him, we met at Sonic every day at 3:00.
After our first date, Douglas walked me to my door and we said our goodnights and I went in. A few minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. He said that I forgot something in the car. When I opened the door he was trying to catch a frog because he knew I hated them. After he chased me around the yard with it, he grabbed me up in a hug. While he leaned in for my forehead, I leaned in for his lips.
During one of our Sonic dates, Douglas asked me to be his girlfriend with cheese sticks (my favorite snack).
The day he proposed I thought we were headed out to eat with Douglas, my best friend, and her boyfriend. When we arrived at the “restaurant” it turned out to be a park that I had been talking about. After we got out of the car, Douglas got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. My response was “It’s about time!” And I had never been more excited to marry my best friend.
