Visit the iconic St. Louis Arch. A quick ride in a space-capsule like capsule will take you to the top!
Tour the Fabulous Fox theater for $10! This is where all the touring Broadway shows play in St. Louis. You can get a behind the scenes tour of this GORGEOUS theater for $10 on Saturdays. Tours start at 10:30am--speaking from personal experience, it's totally worth it!
Visit the Anheuser-Busch brewery in St. Louis! Regular tours are free, or you can choose to do Beer School or the Brewmasters Tour for a little $$. All tours include beer, of course!
Totally worth the visit, considering it was voted the sixth best zoo IN THE WORLD. Plus, it's FREE!
Beer, beer, and more beer! St. Louis has a great craft brewery scene. There are quite a few around downtown STL, but here are a few of my favorite recommendations, all very easily accessible from both of our room block hotels. 1. Urban Chestnut Brewing Company 2. Schlafly 3. 4 Hands Brewing Co. 4. Heavy Riff Brewing Company:
Forest Park is a beautiful area for a run, walk, bike ride, picnic, or just a relaxing afternoon. You can stop by the Zoo, visit the Science Center, take a paddleboat out at the Boathouse, hang out at the 1904 World's Fair pavilion, or just wander the park's paths.
A St. Louis classic! Stop by Ted Drewes Frozen Custard for one of their famous concretes, shakes, or malts. There are two locations in the city--on South Grand and Chippewa, both about 15 minutes from our hotels. An easy drive or Uber ride!
Looking for Italian food? The Hill is your answer! This is a popular, historical area of St. Louis with a TON of small, family owned Italian restaurant. Wherever you go, make sure you eat some toasted ravioli...the most St. Louisey food you'll ever find. (Plus, they're delicious). Recommendations? Hit up Rigazzi's, Mama's, Amighetti's, Zia's, or Charlie Gitto's.
Hang out here to watch some sports and have some grub. Ballpark Village sits adjacent to beautiful Busch Stadium, home of the 11 time World Champion St. Louis Cardinals...in case you were wondering. :) The St. Louis Blues have a home game on Friday, March 23, so Ballpark Village will be hopping then. The Blues play at Scottrade Center, so go grab a ticket if you want to see the action in person!
Tour the home of the 11 time World Champion St. Louis Cardinals! Tours are offered daily at 11am and 12:30pm. You can buy tickets at the tour ticket window, Gate 3 on 8th street. As our wedding is a little over a week before opening day, you should see it pretty close to tip top shape! In my (Erin's) totally unbiased (ha!) opinion, it's the best MLB stadium in the league. ;)
Head down to the Soulard Farmer's Market for some local eats and a chance to explore the area. While in Soulard, you can stop by Mission Taco or one of it's many other restaurants, bars, or boutique eateries. A fun place to walk around if you have some time.
One of St. Louis's most famous foods is our Gooey Butter Cake. Most people have never heard of this delicious treat, so now is you're chance to try it. Click below to view a list of the 10 best places to try Gooey Butter Cake in St. Louis. Park Avenue Coffee (the first place on the linked list) just happens to be in the same neighborhood as our church sooooo, I mean, if you need convenience as an excuse to eat it....plus Lafayette Park is just an awesome area. But seriously, try this stuff.
