Allie and Doug were set up on a group blind date of sorts - or Allie didn’t realize at least until she arrived. A mutual friend had set up a group hang out at Fletch’s Local Tap House where a band was playing and intended for the two to meet. They had a nice, but brief, conversation while screaming over the loud music. They talked, laughed and exchanged phone numbers. A week later, (after Allie finally got up the nerve to text Doug) the couple went on their first date. The rest is history!
Doug proposed in a dusty motel on the coast of Lake Michigan in a little town named Algoma. He originally found the place on a cider related trip with his friend and business partner Spencer. Driving past he knew Allie would love the little motel, and concocted a plan for a “friends getaway”. He snuck his great grandmothers ring (that somehow perfectly fit on Allie’s finger) into his luggage, and through a series of disasters, she said yes.
