Rocky Mountain National Park is a must see! It's also extremely driveable, with beautiful scenery and the guarantee of seeing some wildlife, be it mule deer, elk, big horn sheep, or even a moose! Most hiking is closed but there are opportunities for sledding. PLEASE NOTE THAT A PARK PASS AND RESERVATION (one per car) ARE REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE. These need to be procured in advance, so please see the website for detailed instructions on planning your visit to the Park.
Yes, it's haunted, and it was the inspiration for Stephen King's iconic book, "The Shining." Tours are available, and it's fun to learn about the long and interesting history. Aside from the tours, we recommend simply going to explore the hotel as it's absolutely beautiful and has restaurants, bars and even a hedge maze!
This ultimate winter back-country mountain adventure begins with a snowcat tour with Estes Park Outfitters. After climbing several thousand feet of elevation and riding through miles of remote mountain trails, you will be taken to a remote, luxury, off-the-grid mountain lodge. At an elevation of about 9200 feet, you are sure to enjoy breathtaking views and cozy up by the fire.
For our adventurous guests: In Estes Park, winter sport means people-powered snowsports in the backcountry – like backcountry skiing, splitboarding, cross-country skiing, ice climbing, snowshoeing – activities where you use your own energy rather than a ski lift. Here is a link for a guide or to rent snow gear.
Unwind at Qi Lounge & Spa at the Estes Park Resort. Overlooking Lake Estes and the Rockies, this peaceful spa offers massages, facials, and more—perfect for a relaxing break during the weekend.
