When we started planning our dream wedding, we knew that our top priority was to be able to have fun and celebrate this day with all of our friends and family. When COVID-19 hit (and continues to last longer than we expected), we knew that this dream would likely be threatened and/or altered. Thus, we've decided to push our date out into 2021. We hope you can join us on our new date. Mark your calendar and get ready to party with us! :) Thank you to our incredible friends and family for their continued love, support, and guidance.
On October 10th 2017, Lauren and her Aunt Monica went into Puesto for their usual Taco Tuesday spicy margarita fix. While Lauren and Monica were chatting and sipping, Doug was behind the bar busy serving the patrons of the restaurant. Close to closing time, Doug made his way over to the corner of the bar to ask Lauren and Monica if they needed anything. After ordering Doug's favorite Hero Taco, chatting and story telling continued through the evening between the three. Monica encouraged Lauren to give Doug her number because "she could feel the good energy" between them, but Lauren wasn't convinced that Doug's flirtiness was anything more than his usual bartender behavior. When it came time to pay the bill, Monica and Lauren fought over who was going to pay, just like every other time they went out. Doug asked, "Well what's in it for me?" Monica replied, "If you take my card, I'll give you her number..." Doug responded, "DEAL!" And the rest is history! Doug and Lauren started texting the very next day, then went on a few dates, and quickly fell for each other over many delicious meals, bottles of wine and endless conversation.
After a busy spring in a number of weddings, Doug planned a weekend in Napa for the two of them to get away and enjoy some time together. Lauren was on her toes wondering when he might pop the question, but didn't want to get her hopes up for Napa. Little did she know, Doug had been planning the proposal since December, working with Michael and Suzie (Lauren's siblings) to design the ring and plan the perfect occasion. On June 6th 2019, Doug told Lauren that he needed to stop by Puesto to "sign some papers" before making their way to the airport for Napa. When they pulled up and parked, Lauren insisted on waiting in the car, unknowing what Doug had planned to do inside. After convincing her to go inside with him, Doug led Lauren to the very corner of the bar where they met. Surrounded by GoPro cameras, Michael, Suzie and a number of onlooking patrons and employees, Doug got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him. She of course said "YES!", which Doug responded with, "REALLY?!" They celebrated with pictures and champagne before heading off to the airport where Lauren's family awaited to surprise and celebrate. Doug and Lauren made their way to Napa with many texts and phone calls (Lauren even got a job offer that same day in the airport!), and had the weekend of their lives sipping wine and eating fantastic food! It was magical!
