We met on e-harmony.com. My mom convinced me to give it a try after I had given up on all dating. My profile was very honest and said that I wanted to date a cyclist. It just so happens that Doug purchased a bike and the gear he needed to start riding the day we met on-line. I had a hard time understanding how he didn't have a pair of cycling shorts but had rode like 120 miles in one week! I wasn't completely sold yet. ;-)
We went to Doug's sister's house in Northern Illinois for his nieces college graduation party. Everyone went outside to take family pictures by the pine trees and when all the families were finished Doug started speaking and said he had something he had to ask me. I looked up and everyone had formed a circle around us and Doug started saying the most beautiful things to me. He then bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn't take my eyes off him and quietly said "Yes, baby, of course" and we were engaged and the show was over! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Albion, IL!
