Doug looks up to see the short redheaded girl from OK Cupid approaching, pulling out her earphones. "Sorry I'm crying a little - I was listening to Hamilton," she said. "Oh yeah, totally..." Doug replied, having no idea what Hamilton is or why this girl was crying, but interested nonetheless. They circled the block while they waited for their table at the fried chicken restaurant in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Over dinner, they discussed music, movies, online dating gone wrong (although so far, this time seemed ok!) and gnawed on chicken wings. The rest is history.

Since Doug and Faith talk about every single thing in their minds, the proposal was not altogether a surprise...but Faith was still so thrilled she forgot to actually SAY "yes" for a moment or two. It was at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens on a breezy April day. Doug suggested they lay under some flowering magnolia trees (suspiciously romantic, thought Faith...) and, just as they were settling in, a BBG guard came and made the young lovers move on. Thankfully, the gigantic old oak tree at the base of the Gardens' "Daffodil Hill" was just around the corner. "This tree will be here for a long time..." Doug thought, and directed Faith's attention to a couple of birds up on the branches. As she turned, she felt Doug's knee hit her in the back of the leg as he knelt to propose, and she smiled, turning to face him.
